Black Artists with Disabilities Sought

CALL for ART: Black Artists with Disabilities: Arts Unbound is currently accepting submissions for the February 2019 exhibition featuring work by black artists who have a physical disability, developmental disability, learning disability, mental illness or chronic illness. This show will celebrate Black History Month by highlighting the achievements of black artists while, at the same time, bringing attention to the issues around disability in the black community.

For this open call we are inviting both emerging and established artists to submit work in any medium.

Eligibility: Black artists who have a physical disability, developmental disability, learning disability, chronic illness or mental illness.

Submission deadline: December 1, 2018

How to apply: Submission is free and must be sent via email to cryan@artsunbound.org

Please submit:
1 – 3 images at 72dpi,
Images must be labeled with title, medium, size
An artist statement

Shipping + presentation: If your submission is accepted, you will be notified with information for drop off or shipping your artwork(s) to the gallery. In the event the work does not sell the artist is responsible for the return postage which can be a shipping label from either UPS, Fedex or USPS included with your artwork.

Gallery commission: Arts Unbound retains the right to represent an artist in a sale of the artwork that is exhibited for the duration of the exhibition. All artworks will be offered for sale. Arts Unbound takes a 40% commission on all sales. Accepted entries are represented by Arts Unbound for the duration of the exhibition, and artworks will be promoted on our website and other social media.

Arts Unbound is dedicated to the artistic achievement of people living with disabilities and seniors. They provide visual arts education and professional development to help emerging artists compete on the retail market. By promoting the work of artists with disabilities and seniors, Arts Unbound centers their art-making rather than any impairments and by doing so challenges the stigma associated with disability and aging.
